Key Highlights
The Samsung Galaxy S20 stands out as a mostly excellent smartphone — a statement that might surprise some in today’s fast-moving Android world. While it’s true that Samsung’s S20 lineup faced criticism for its pricing and a few purist gripes, the regular Galaxy S20 quietly delivers one of the most balanced and enjoyable flagship experiences of 2020. I’ve spent considerable time with this model — not the flashy Ultra — and it has genuinely impressed me in nearly every way that matters. The Galaxy S20 embodies what a true flagship should be: compact, powerful, and beautifully designed. It doesn’t chase extremes like its $1,400 Ultra sibling, whose oversized frame and inconsistent camera performance have stirred plenty of debate. Instead, the S20 focuses on refinement and usability. It introduces next-gen features like 5G connectivity, a 120Hz refresh rate display, and enhanced triple rear cameras — all wrapped in a sleek and ergonomic design that feels great in hand. Photography is where the S20 truly shines. Its versatile camera setup captures stunning photos, offering impressive detail and vibrant colors. Even without the 108MP sensor found in the Ultra, the S20’s imaging experience feels refined and consistent. Plus, its ability to record 8K video puts it ahead of many competitors. Ultimately, the Samsung Galaxy S20 finds the sweet spot between innovation and practicality. It’s not the most extreme phone in Samsung’s lineup, but it’s undoubtedly the most balanced. With top-tier performance, elegant design, and meaningful upgrades, the Galaxy S20 makes a compelling case as Samsung’s best all-around smartphone — one that comes remarkably close to perfection.
